While at G.W Carver, Fargo was a member of the varsity basketball team as a freshman where he played throughout his senior year and was the caption of the district championship team. Fargo excelled in all sports; a knee injury his sophomore year led him to discontinue football and focus on Basketball and Track and Field. Fargo dominated Track and Field, during his tenure at G.W Carver He was a state champion in the 440 relay, the mile relay and was second in state for the long jump. Sports became an influential part of Fargo’s upbringing; it taught him the importance of discipline, and he developed a strong work ethic. Fargo accepted Christ at an early age, and in the early 80’s he re-dedicated his life to Christ. He was an active member of Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent for several years and was also ordained as a Decon which was an incredibly special ceremony for him. He taught the Adult Sunday School Class for 5+ years and was a part of the Mt. Rose Brotherhood. Fargo was truly a man of God who studied the word of God faithfully. During his transition, his family would softly play old Gospel songs by his bedside while he rested; he would tap his fingers together in a clapping motion, enjoying the music, He really Loved the Lord his God.

He was also a master Mason belonging to John G. Jones Lodge No. 370. He worked with the Big Brother and Sisters organization for several years and served as a mentor to underprivileged children. He lived a life of service and was always willing to help others succeed. He volunteered at the YMCA with the little league basketball; he coached his son and grandsons during basketball season. He never met a stranger. He was always engaging, and he loved good conversation. The unique thing about Fargo is, he could adapt to any in any room he was in, he had a quick wit, he always had a good joke or funny story to tell.

Since his retirement in 2006, Fargo loved spending time with his family, watching and attending sporting events, and playing golf But, he really enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching old western movies. Just being Pa-Pa made him extremely happy. His Family was his greatest Joy. Fargo’s prayer was that God would bless him an extended years of life so he could watch his grandchildren/great grandchildren grow up excel in their endeavors. God answered his prayers, as he was 81 years old at the time of his passing. He lived a great life.
