In Loving Memory of Richard Earl Washington

December 1, 1967 – June 23, 2026

Richard Earl Washington was born on December 1, 1967, to the late Lula Mae and Jodie Washington. From an early age, Richard displayed a vibrant personality, a love for people, and a passion for the arts that would remain with him throughout his life.He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1987 before continuing his education at San Jacinto College, where he pursued his love for theater. His talent and dedication eventually took him to New York City, where he fulfilled a lifelong dream by performing on Broadway. Richard cherished every opportunity to share his gifts and inspire others through the performing arts.Richard found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved bowling, fishing, traveling, watching sports, and singing. Above all, his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He faithfully served as a Deacon and was a devoted member of his church's Praise and Worship Team, where his voice and servant's heart touched countless lives. Richard dedicated 25 years of faithful service to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, where he eventually retired. Throughout his distinguished career, he made a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people. His strong work ethic, dependability, compassion, and easy-going spirit earned the admiration and respect of his coworkers as well as the juveniles he served. He believed in offering encouragement, guidance, and hope to those who needed it most. Richard's greatest pride was his family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Felicia Washington and Catina Washington. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved wife, Queen Washington; his children, Scottie, Richard Jr., Tyler, and Aliyah; his great-nephew and great-niece, Andrey and Nylah; his siblings, Rhunda (Mylo) Lewis, Gerald (Tracey) Washington, and LaFaye (Robert) Lee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him. Richard's life was one of faith, service, compassion, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will forever be treasured.
