Willie Mae Hart was born on June 20, 1946, in Waco, Texas. Willie Mae was a loving, dedicated, exceptional wife and mother. She was the oldest of eight children, she was proceeded in death by her Beloved Husband of 56 years, Isaac Benton Hart Jr., (Fargo), parents Deedy and Gladys Evans, brothers Deedy Evans Jr., Edward (Cheeta) Evans, Freeman Evans, Donnell Evans, sister Candance Evans and grandson Earl Tyron Dieudonne II. Willie Mae is survived by her three children; Racquel (Rodney), Shantel (Tyron) and Isaac (Nytassia), eight grandchildren; Rawltyn, Trayvia, Iniqua, Donte, Demontrae, Kade, Legend and Lanier; 5 Great Grandchildren, Kyan, Naomi, Kyson, Khlyan and Cy’Rri, brother’s Lonzo Evans (Pennie) and Carl Evans (Vanessa), and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Willie Mae also shared a stepdaughter Pasha May, and her children Barbara and Rena May along with their children Jarrell, Jayln, Jayden, Brayden, JaCarole and Jarrell Jr.
Willie Mae’s education began at the first black school in Waco Texas, AJ Moore School, where she attended until 1958. Her family then left Waco and relocated to Fort Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth Willie Mae attended Dunbar High School. This is where her personality began to sparkle. She was part of several social auxiliaries and a Cheerleader for the Dunbar Wildcats, along with being voted on several homecoming courts. While in high school she worked every summer at Wyatt’s Cafeteria cleaning tables, it was there, she developed a resilient work ethic. Following those years, she remained committed to education, and was accepted into Arlington State (UTA). Shortly after attending college, Willie Mae was offered a job with Texas Instruments (TI) where she worked for several years.
In 1968 Willie Mae met the love of her life, Fargo, a match made in Heaven, in 1970 she relocated to Baytown Texas. Willie Mae, whose upbringing consisted of being surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers and her sister, was now in Baytown Texas, as a new mom hundreds of miles from her family. The Hart Family, along with the Matriarch of the family, Maggie Lee Hart (Dear) welcomed her with open arms and without hesitation. Willie Mae and Fargo married in 1970 and began raising their children. Willie Mae loved being a mom, her children were her priority, and she was immensely devoted to her family.
Years following the arrival of her children, Willie Mae was hired by People State Bank. She was affectionately known as the “Gorgeous Black Bank Teller.” Willie Mae was always so stylish. She took pride in her appearance. She had a passion for décor, gardening and fashion. She was a classy lady. If you encountered Willie Mae, you would be greeted with a warm smile, an infectious laugh and a genuine spirit. Before retiring, she worked at ExxonMobil as a reproduction clerk, where she met some amazing people, who became her forever friends.
Willie Mae was a lifetime Member of the Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a Deaconess and was the Director of the Youth Department for several years. She was
influential in starting the Praise Dance Ministry at Mt. Rose MBC and was exceedingly active in her acts of service as pertaining to the youth of the church. She loved God more than anything and as her health declined, her faith never wavered. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalms , for she knew the Lord was truly her Shepard. 2nd Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I kept the faith,” this scripture is a true testament of how Willie Mae lived her Life, she fought until the very end, while loving and trusting God through it all.
